Goodbye sky-high chrome, hello fuel injection.
For the 1962 Corvette, Chevrolet ditched some of the flashy chrome for something a bit more demure and powerful.
While Chevy replaced the Corvette’s chrome grille with a blacked-out unit, the big news was under the hood: Displacement increased from 283 to 327 cubic inches.
But the kicker? Fuel injection remained an option.
This Corvette is one of 1918 with that Rochester mechanical fuel injection, boosting the horsepower from 340 to 360.
This combination allowed Corvettes to take the win at the 1962 Daytona Continental as well as that year’s SCCA Class A Production title.
This well-preserved older restoration sports a numbers-matching engine, a four-speed gearbox and a triple-black color scheme.
Find this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette for auction at RM Sotheby’s on October 10, with an estimated value of $90,000 to $110,000.
