A deep-cut of a different kind: Opel Rekord Olympia

Merriam-Webster defines a deep cut as “a song that is considerably less popular and well-known than other songs on the same album or by the same artist,” or “something (such as an obscure reference to a book or movie) that is recognizable to devotees but not usually to others.” The automotive equivalent? Try this Opel Rekord Olympia.

Not familiar with the Rekord Olympia? Power comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed manual gearbox. While built in Germany, the Rekord could be purchased here in the States at your local Buick dealer.

The Opel is noted to have been repainted in 2007 and has had several components either rebuilt or replaced including the brake master cylinder, brake wheel cylinders, spark plugs and shocks.
