Putting parts BACK ON is so satisfying.

It took a lot of little steps to get here but they are paying off.

The Richmond gear trans, isn't that a later version of the Doug Nash street 5 speed? I know that they were all 1:1 fifth gear. I had a Doug Nash with the 3.10 first gear. Worked well with 3:08 diff ratio in my 69 C3. Never shifted quite as well as the Muncie however.

In reply to madmrak351 :

The Richmond is a six speed

5th is 1:1, 6th is 86 and I don't recall what 1st is.

its gonna stay in the challenge car for now but I am taking some time to look at how it might be used in the c3 in the future.

Ok, thanks that absolutely explains the bulge in the tail housing.

Unboxing new parts is always so satisfying, but when you start putting them on and the vision in your head comes together, there is no better feeling. Keep up the great work!

Glad to see it.

Being on a couple of C3 groups, I'm AMAZED by the large number of "I'm going to lift the body to do x" adventures that end up a couple of years later with a chassis for sale, and a separate body on a wooden dolly.  I swear at this point I think more are lost to aborted restorations than to crashes.

In reply to DILYSI Dave :

I think that is a very common problem and not just with C3's. A lot of people start a full restoration only to eventually realize they are over their head either skill, money or time wise, and make the wise decision to move it on. Unfortunately, more often than not they value the remaining heap for way more than the functional car once demanded. Leaving alone the fact that a significant portion of the parts have gone missing in the mean time, as was the case here too.

Hey Florida Man - you still alive?  I think this is the longest time this thread has gone without an update.

So, since the last post:

2 Major Hurricanes

1 Personal Medical Emergency

1 round of Dog seizures

and stuff... just lots of stuff.

It felt good to get back to it this weekend.

Left front suspension rebuilt, new bearings, new rotors and brakes.

Up graded stiff f41 style coil spring.

this is a great thread, and one i can deeply identifiy with.  I've spent the last couple of years getting a '69 back on it's poor neglected feet, and have spent this summer and fall almost daily driving it.  It's ugly & beautiful.  Probably should start a thread...
