Nope. My TR-4 has one.
Im actually thinking about putting the old generator back on the Morgan.

Even though they look correct under the hood, an alternator is just so much better if you drive alot. Of course you can now purchase alternators that look like a generator, even though I haven't seen a Lucas look alike yet...
My Volvo has a generator too. 
Nothing wrong with a generator.. the one on my 58 chevy works just fine and so does the one on the trabant and the polski fiat. yes really, polski fiat... recently posted to readers rides, one of 2?? believed in the USA.
The Lucas look-a-like is going for 500 bucks I think...Not 100% but generators do OK. Also Advanced Auto can have one on the desk in less than 24 hours. The bearing failed in my unit, after 30 years or so.
