Interestingly enough, my wife has always had interest in making a small "skoolie", such as a microbus. They're usually on the E450 or Express 4500 platforms and are a dually. So now she has me searching for a 12 or 15 seater.

If that 2010 with the stakebed is as clean as the dealer says it is...that's a terrific price for a crew cab Duramax without major issues. If it's truly a tow pig only, I would sell the stakebed off it and use it as a chassis cab. Should be pretty easy to find a white pickup bed too if you want.

My story is that I'll never go back to a SRW for a tow vehicle. It's a stark difference in stability.
This is the thing that people that haven't towed with a DRW simply don't understand. It's not that an SRW truck can't pull the trailer, it's that you as the driver of a DRW truck will likely forget that you're even pulling something until you check the rear-view mirror.

Go big or go home. This is just up the road from me...
Fits a 4-seat side-by-side on the back while pulling a 5th wheel... Although I'm still trying to catch a pic of it in that configuration.
Seriously though, nothing you posted in your SUV thread would have me inclined towards a dually. It's a local use backup. It's use only involving heavy towing 'fairly often'. Will be appreciably downsizing the towing needs with a significantly smaller and lighter trailer. And the current solution capabilities seem to be workable in the mean time.
If I wasn't going to just downsize the trailer first then get the tow pig to suit, I'd be looking for a tow pig that is aimed at the downsized trailer but can still reasonably handle the current one.

We towed our lemon with a 22 passenger E450 based bus for two years. Towing was an absolute dream. Honestly you didn't realize there was 5000lbs behind you ever. We ran into electrical issues with the interface between the Ford and the StarCraft. Now ask how I feel about powerstroke 7.3s...
