There is a dog food rendering plant less than a mile away.  80% of the time they are downwind and we don't smell them.

That 20% of the time?  It's the god damned wurst.

Today is the 20%

Ok, sometimes I am.  I try to learn from it.

People requiring me to do the same task more than once, expecting a different outcome.  For reference, I work in an automotive parts department.  Shops send me an electronic quote to get the price and availability of parts for a job they have.  Sometimes shops send the same quote request multiple times. It is annoying.

I should really read AND comprehend before I post.  Sorry

Most of my coworkers are loud extreme right-wingers that live alone and drive 4-door diesel bro-dozers. One once mused that we should 'vote for more vacation days' and when I pointed out we'd need a union to do that he called me a commie.

I wish they taught thinking in schools.

Our company office building used to be next to a sewage treatment plant. Most of the time we never noticed, but once in a while... boy howdy...

When I'm on site in NH, I'm surprised at how many smokers I work with...

Moved my desk from a fairly separated area which was quiet and low-distraction to an area built out of hangar space.  Noisy, shared cubicals which are hard to concentrate in, located far from most of the people in my department so we have to drive to talk to folks (there's a runway between us, we can't walk it) that we often need to work with.  Just a pile of distractions.

They're having a terrible time hiring people with experience, especially folks with certification titles/licensure with the FAA, and they're not budging on requiring people work on-site.  I think pay is on the low side as well so nobody with options is taking the bait.  And they're not interested in input or requests to change these things from the people actually doing the work.

It feels like they're copying the last major project a bunch of them worked on, which ran almost 100% longer on time than they had alloted for, was a complete mess, and bankrupted that company.  They admit to all of this but don't seem interested in changing.

EDIT: I completely missed the point of this thread.

Near Wichita, KS there's one of those plants - super wicked too.

The town of Decatur, IL smells like soy bean processing from ADM. Not a great smell.

The town of Argo, IL smells awful being next to a large starch plant - Corn Products.

I used to measure up conveyor belts at a few recycling facilities in Chicago. Garbage funky smell in July as it's been stewing for the summer.  Call me in January to do this next time.

This is the joy of being in industrial sales - my joke is to say it smells like money but I'm usually lying.  It smells like E36 M3.

Traffic to and from.  Started out not so bad, then picked up.  I changed my hours to start at 6:30am, out at 4:00.  Well, the State workers can do the same thing, so the State Worker Gran Prix got to be horrible; sprinkle a little snow on the mix and you'll understand why I don't have weapons.

I work for a very small company, 25+ years so far.  Both coworkers that I had something in common with left.  One was a bit younger than me, we talked about Star Wars, Army of Darkness, video games (even if I'm not active anymore), generally anything geeky/nerdy.

The other was my car guy - I got him into AX then he went for track days.  We talked all my car ADHD purchases, anything car related really.  Plus occasional Star Wars.

Now I have two slightly older guys that one I call Curmudgeon Dave and the other has a very monotone gravel voice and seems interested in nothing.

At the garbage facility the guys found a bag of beanie babies and thought it was funny to strategically place them around the plant.  Yes, I jumped at first.

I lost my car guy as well.  Sucks not being able to get passed the first level of knowledge while talking cars.

Im not there anymore but worked a dozen years in a plant between a pork processing facility on one side and a cookie factory on the other.
It was as bipolar a situation as I can imagine

I can say very little negative about my current employ

Yeah, having a 'work buddy' really helps, and I don't have that either.  I get along with my team mates but they're all kind of annoying as well.

My company's office building is in the middle of a large commercial area.  If you want to go to lunch  you have to drive, traffic is bad, distances are far, so there is not a way to go to lunch in less than 1.5 hours.   This means either bring a lunch or eat in their greasy food kiosk.

I stopped going and work from home.  No one misses me because most of the people on my project are in another state 360 miles away.

They told me I had to come to the office.  I said fine, where is my office?   The building has every project segregated by key card entry.  I can't go into any of those areas unless I am on that particular project because of client confidentiality agreements, but my project is in another city, not that one.  Department manager fines says she sees my point and don't tell anyone you are doing it.

Every single one of the issues I have with work are directly related to work, if not necessarily the work I do, my team, etc.

The only complaint I can think of regarding external forces is how some people drive in the city where I live, but that also returns to a work complaint, as they've tried to require return to office.

He makes me work long hours, takes half my money and sleeps with my wife.

Also, I'm self-employed.

Pick a day, I'll tell you what's driving me crazy. Yesterday it was customers. Today, including the employee that just backed into a food truck, it's employees.
