Car Catcher: This Volkswagen Thing Was Literally Hot

VW Things are hot. And here's one that literally was hot. From the auction house: "Full professional pan-off restoration after surviving a house fire."

Also of note from the auction house regarding this 1973 Volkswagen Thing: a custom top made of marine material, EMPI chrome wheels, and adjustable front suspension and rear spring plates. Power comes from a built 1835cc engine, and is sent to the wheels through a Freeway Flyer four-speed transmission.

In reply to noddaz :

That certainly caught my attention to when I saw it. I thought it was an odd thing to point out.

There's ordinary "patina", which is usually ugly, then there's burned... which is stupid and ugly. But hey, maybe someone wants it.
