Back in my day, we built a slot car track on a 4x8 board, and we liked it that way. :)

How to get a Porsche 917K or Ferrari P4 into your house for significantly less than millions of dollars? Make it half the size, and then put a slot car race track inside of it.
That’s exactly what custom slot car raceway builder Slot Mods is doing with its larger-than-life 917 art car that opens to reveal a Circuit de la Sarthe-inspired slot car raceway inside.
Built in 1:2 scale in conjunction with artist Tony Lauro and his HotShoe Studios, both the 917K and P4 can be had in either clean or race-weathered condition. Pick the 917K, and you’ll also have the option of picking from one of three iconic liveries: Gulf, Martini or Salzburg.
Regardless of choice, each art car will feature a hand-painted shell plus several handcrafted details that include working headlights and taillights.
The meticulous construction continues to the inside, as the slot car track boasts a wooden raceway doused with period-correct details including banners, signs, buildings and even aluminum Armco railings–all built in 1:43 scale.
Interested? Either one will set you back $85,000–about the current going rate of a concours-quality Porsche 968 or Ferrari 400i.
