While our Sprite’s Moss Motors carpet kit comes with old-school insulation, we opted for the Design Engineering Inc. (DEI) Boom Mat. Every time we use this product, we are shocked by how well it keeps noise out of the cockpit. It adds a rich feel that belies its price tag: about $100 to insulate a small car.

The key is to cut it into strips about 2 inches and run it down the floor of the car. You can leave about an inch between strips and do not need to do every inch of the cockpit.
Coupled with their heat insulation underneath the tunnel and firewall, we are really pleased with how little noise and heat is coming into our Sprite.
