In a time when road-going cars were just starting to break the 100 mph mark, legendary driver Sir Malcolm Campbell went and tripled that speed at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1935.

Granted, he was driving a purpose-built land speed car powered by a 2300-horsepower (and no, that’s not a typo) Rolls-Royce V12 engine.
