The electronic part of the ignition switch is a common issue. VW part (same) is about $12. Still, it's a mess and an overheated M96 engine will likely never be right again. There may be $800 of parts there, but wouldn't be worth the effort unless you need them for yourself. It's "Pending" now.

The transmission may be worth about $1,000 but is high mile. The Immobilizer box plus key plus Engine computer is worth about $750. Even scrappy headlights sell for a few hundred. Brake calipers $$$...
If it wasn't a tiptronic and the top was better I'd be more interested in it.

I wasn't referring to the cost of the ignition. I was noting that damaged ignitions are often a sign of theft cars.
